In the design industry, managing challenging conversations is crucial for successful collaboration.

Are you often challenged in dealing with difficult conversations with clients, your design team, or with other departments in your studio or organisation?

Learn how to communicate clearly in crucial situations such as client conversations on design briefs, team meetings, meetings with senior managers or important stakeholders, in a design environment.

This online workshop will allow you to learn the fundamentals of how to communicate clearly and effectively in crucial situations, in the creative and design space.

Participants will learn to navigate challenging discussions and crucial conversations with peers, senior managers, colleagues, and clients confidently and constructively.

The topics covered include empowering participants to engage assertively in critical discussions, assessing conversation dynamics, presenting their case effectively, and knowing when to assert themselves or remain silent.

Programme Objectives and What You Will Take Away

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Participate and speak up in critical conversations confidently and assertively (on video calls, on the phone, in person, in small or large groups, in formal or informal settings).
  • Assess the participants in a conversation and present their case in a way that is more likely to appeal to them and know when to “speak up” and when to “shut up”.
  • Gain the confidence to make their case in the presence of more senior people and with difficult people.
  • Effectively prepare and present their case, demonstration or point of view, learning when and how to “Say No!” answering those difficult questions.

What you will Experience

Throughout this workshop, participants will engage in interactive sessions that delve into the intricacies of critical conversations, exploring their reactions and learning effective strategies to control themselves in various settings, from formal meetings to informal discussions.

Moreover, participants will delve into the art of preparation and presentation, learning the 4 Fs model and honing their ability to structure and communicate their points persuasively. They will acquire practical tools to handle difficult people and situations, including clients, and master the art of saying “no” when necessary.

The program is not just theoretical; it incorporates scripted role plays based on real-life situations, providing a hands-on experience for participants to apply their newfound skills and ensure a seamless transition from learning to practical implementation in their professional interactions.
